» Pyrite Publisher v2.0 Description
A set of tools for creating Doc e-texts on Unix (and possibly other) systems.
Pyrite Publisher currently includes converters for HTML and ASCII text, and has a number of advanced features:
- input from local files, FTP, WWW;
- gzipped input supported;
- optionally install documents directly to a connected PalmPilot;
- user-settable category, creator, type, and backup bit;
- TealDoc tag support;
- TealDoc header auto-wordwrap based on actual Palm font metrics;
- true bookmarks (no autoscan needed!);
- auto-bookmark of named anchors (HTML);
- link summary (HTML);
- extended character set support (HTML);
- nroff-style tags and extensible tag engine (ASCII). Pyrite Publisher requires the Python language, version 1.5.2 or newer; it is developed on Linux but may work elsewhere. Update Description:
Release 2.0 (12/25/2001):
Adds many new features, including regular expression bookmarking, direct one-step conversion between Doc and zTXT, re-processing of Doc/zTXT files (eg. convert Iambic or Mobipocket HTML documents back to text), full configurability, and more... Release 1.99.3 (12/19/2001):
Adds support for the zTXT format (a non-proprietary high-compression etext format used by the free Gutenpalm reader), including annotations and stored preferences. Release 1.99.1, (6/01/2001):
A bug fix release. This release (1.99.0):
Begins a series of preview/test releases leading to version 2.0. Pyrite Publisher has most of the features of its predecessor (Doc Toolkit) but has been redesigned with a new core architecture. One important change is that this version requires no added software other than a Python interpreter. (It will probably even run on Windows, although it hasn't been tested there yet.)
