Holding the center button on the five-way controller for about a second on newer Palms gives the generally useless alerts box. But if you install CenterMenu, instead it will pull down the application menu, which you can then navigate with the five-way controller for stylus-free, one-handed operation. Requires a newer (NVFS-based) Palm, such as the Treo 650 and up, TE2, T5, LifeDrive or TX.
